Fireside coffee, cake and chat

The Politcamel of the United Revolutionary Popular Camel Front (Marxist-Leninist) has passed the following motion and ordered it to be promulgated and propagated to all and sundry for the education and edification of the masses.

The Official and Undisputed History of the Veteran Corner

including

the brewing of the coffee

also

the glorious struggle to build the manor, a place which camels everywhere may call home

and

the even more glorious assumption of power by the Camels

In the beginning, there was an Alchemyst, who sat under the GrapeVine of Knowledge for forty days and forty-one nights. Thus, she availed herself of the secret of baking, and did bake some cakes, to go along with Nailz' coffee. Everyone sat down by the fire and began adding bits to the fire which had appeared. Soon enough, we had a verandah, a dungeon, a library, lots of beanbags and associated soft furnishings, not to mention various cakes, coffees, smokable things and a very well-stocked alcohol cupboard.

However, the Grapes who had originally given the knowledge to the Alchemyst had grown too powerful and were starting to oppress the camels. Thus, the URPCF(M-L) was formed with the aims of smashing capitalism, ending discrimination against one-humped camels and generally providing light relief. You will see that the camels have become something of a theme...

The Veterans' Corner is meant for people who have stopped SIing, people who are older than the usual age range for SIers and people who feel comfortable here. That doesn't mean that everything here is terribly serious - we've been Thundercats and Baby Muppets recently - and it doesn't necessarily mean we're full of wonderful advice... we're not just crazy, we're crazy and old. The problems that older SIers face are sometimes different to those in a more typical age range and so the Veteran Corner exists to cater for them.

Things move a bit more slowly here than on the other boards... you're more likely to see a thread stick around for a while and have more responses, but they'll come more slowly.

So, pull up a chair, eat a grape, put your feet on a camel and welcome on in to the Veteran Corner
