I was bullied - mobbed - by a large group of girls in my year for 10 years, so it's of deep personal interest to me.

well i hope it gives you the same hope it's given me, because it suddenly felt like it was ok to be me again. A lot of it is to do with the way women are socialised not to display anger in the traditional ways (ie physical agression) so they develop other, manipulative ways to get to each other and about how this can affect the individual and their future relationships and things. I'm only about 120 pages in at the moment but I'm finding it really good.

I've just started 'Brave New World' by Aldous Huxley. I've been meaning to read it for ages! So far it's good, but I've read like, one chapter.

Oooo good book, BNW. I read it for a Totalitarianism and Lit. module at uni.

I'm reading Faith by Lesley Pearse. About 100 pages to go. Then I'm onto Notes from an exhibition.

Oh I love that one. He was definitely one of the best thinkers of his age.
I'd definitely recommend Odd Girl Out. I've got about half way through now and she's been talking about manipulation by girls to other girls for power.

at oxfam today aswell, i started reading a book called smashed, it's like an autobiography of some teenage alcoholic girl. it was reallyyy good, so i bought it, but i don't know when i'll get 'round to reading it all the way through.

Currently reading a trilogy by Sara Douglass, Battleaxe, Enchanter and Starman. A bit slow at places, but a brilliant story. Just finished two books by Stuart Hill, Cry Of The Icemark and Blade Of Fire, I couldn't put them down :hop:

Reading The Bachman Books. a collection of Stephen King's short stories when he wrote under his pen name. Currently on Roadwork. really interesting so far as you follow the character's so spiralling drop into madness.

I've just re-read 1984 and Animal Farm by George Orwell, I started re-reading The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks and the bus today and for some reason I'm also currently re-reading all the Harry Potter books - I'm on the third currently.

I don't know why I'm doing so much re-reading at the moment, I shall get started on something new next! Probably The Bell by Murdoch, as I've got it sitting on my 'unread' pile and it looks very interesting.

I'm reading Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen. Why does life always seem so much more endearing back then?

Candide by Voltaire. <3...I love Voltaire. He was the master of dark humor. And, as far as classic literature goes, Candide is not a hard read...but it also depends on the translation. The language is simplistic but the morals complex. Ultimate read for anyone interested in philosophy, politics, or just intelligence.

I'm reading '"Son" A Psychopath and His Victims' by Jack Olsen. It freaks me out because it's a true story about a rapist who lived in the same city I live in, only about 30 years ago. I can just see all the places he describes in my head because I've been to all of them, and AGGHH. It's just weird.

I've just finished '100 Years Of Medical Murder', and I've just started 'A Memory Of All That' and 'Infamous Murderers'. =]

I bought that because I was at Norwich train station and I'd finished my book and I had a four-hour train journey home ahead of me and it was the only thing in Smiths that wasn't the worst kind of chicklit. I thought it was going to irritate me but I seem to recall it was actually surprisingly good. This was summer 2006, mind, so I may be remembering it through rose-tinted glasses!

I finished The Wasp Factory and the Murdoch novel (god, that was depressing) and I'm now reading The Nomad of Time by Michael Moorcock. And I'm still re-reading the Harry Potters, and I still don't know why. I'll probably finish the fourth one tonight.
