avast anti virus
So, I used to have AVG but when I dutifully updated it to version 9 it totally screwed up my computer, so after a lot of stress and swearing i now have avast.
I have vista, and yes, i know it sucks, but i'm not in a position to change it. anyway, i don't have any actual problems with avast, but coming from avg it seems quite hard to understand, is there anything in particular i have to do or will it just run automatically in the background? currently it says "7 providers, 6 running" - the one not running is outlook/exchange, which says it is waiting ffor a subsystem to start. should i be worried about this or is it not neccessary? cheers! am so confused lol. hate technology. but hate viruses more. |
^that pop-up was what made me get rid of avira. It annoyed me so much.

I use Avira and was never bothered by the pop-up because I disable automatic updates (the pop-ups come with the updates). When I click on manual update every few days I get the pop-up - which then meets an ugly death since I click it off mere second into its life. If you don't update for weeks you wont get a pop-up for weeks.
The thing to be careful of with Avira is false positives. But I Google of any threat usually confirms if threat is real or not. |
Popup think bugged me with avira too, been happy with avast on my machines, just install, n leave it to do its thing, it'll run the providers it needs as n when it needs them so nothing to worry about it

AVG 9.0 has come out with a ton of problems, but they all lay in one area. They've made this new feature called the "Link Scanner", you just disable that and everything works fine.
Trouble is, then you're not fully protected. Maybe a change to Avast shall be heading my way also, but for now, AVG is working fine. Dicky! |
