That just reminded me I need to dig out all my Vampire Chronicles books for the summer holidays :-D |
I'm reading The Stand by Stephen King for like the fourth time.
It's ridiculously long but God it's worth the read. My favourite book of all time is It by Stephen King, which again is ridiculously long but worth it. I have a thing about long books, more than 1000 pages and I'm sold. x |
I'm reading Every Dead Thing by John Connolly at the mo'. 'Tis rather good, but I've still got 3/4 to go :P
Same as before, but I've also started Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy. :)
The last book I finished was The Girls Who Went Away by Ann Fessler. It's about young women that became pregnant and were sent away to unwed mother's homes during 1947-1973. What they went through before, during and after they surrendered their child. It's a very enlightening book on the subject. It really enables you to see the situation from the mother's point of view.
I'm currently reading Crank by Ellen Hopkins. This one is about a girl named Kristina. She's pretty much a good girl gone "bad". She lives with her mom & step-dad in a nice neighborhood, has good friends, gets good grades, etc. Then the summer before her junior year of high school, she starts have problems w/ her mom. So she decides to get in contact with her deadbeat dad, and later moves in with him. There she meets a guy, her first love, who introduces her to crank aka "the monster"........ You have to read it to find out the rest! |

^^ I'm reading Paradise Lost by Milton as well.
It's a bit of a joke to be honest, takes me about 7 minutes per page :| I'm also reading Post Office by Bukowski. It's really good. |
im reading twilight by stephenie meyer...oh my goodness it is amazing.
Young British Slacker by Andrew Osmond
Weird and not what I expected, but not bad so far nonetheless. I thought it was about urban exploration, and I guess you could consider it that if you include exploring your work place. |
I just finished reading Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk. He is my favorite author now. So amazing!! Now I'm starting Different Seasons by Stephen King.
The tenth circle by jodi picoult. It's taking me forever. It's ok though.

Im reading Scar tissue by Anthony Kiedis i hope i spelt that right, its a biography about the lead singer from Red Hot Chilli peppers Pretty good read
Technically its not a book (well not a novel anyway), but rather an epic poem, but I, like two other people in this thread, am reading "Paradise Lost" by John Milton. Personally, I absoloutely LOVE it, it's amazing!!! The language is gorgeous and the imagery is incredible, it's honestly a joy to read. It's a slow read because it's a poem, and really for best effect should be read aloud, but it's well worth it, absoloutely brilliant.
Just finished reading Emma and I by Sheila Hocken, it's about a woman and her guide dog. It was one of my favourite books when I was younger so I had to read it again.
I'm reading David Hume's 'An Inquiry into Human Understanding', Nietzsche's 'Beyond Good and Evil', Victim: The Secret Tapes of Marilyn Monroe and Inside Little Britain.

I'm reading Middlesex. It's Oprah's book club book. So far it's really really good. It took me awhile to get into it though.
I have just finished the 1 to 12 of the Plum series by Janet Evanovitch. Can't wait for 13!!! love those books!
Emma! |
I spent all yesterday reading The dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst from cover to cover. It's one of the best books I've read tbh. Absolutely devestating, beautiful and sincere. It's the kind of book you want to start over as soon as you've put it down.
I'm reading the Dice man by Luke Rhinehart. Struggling to finish it, living by the dice is an interesting idea, but it is far too long and repetitive. If it was half the size it would be much better.
I'm in the middle of Choke by Chuck Palahniuk and am really enjoy it. Its the second book I've read by him and each one gets better and better.
I'm reading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë. I absolutely love it, although I'm furious with the main character at the moment.

Spoons, I read The Dice Man at the start of this year and thought it was great, but you're right, the end does get a bit too dragged out. I've just finished Schindler's Ark which was really good but so sad. Next on the list is Affinity by Sarah Waters, I've read all her other books and loved them!
I've just started Size 14 is not Fat Either by Meg Cabot. I'm actually ashamed to be reading such a thing, haha. But it's funny, and I like it.
