I'm reading the other boleyn girl by phillipa gregory
I was also reading 1984 but that was because it's one of my set texts for english. It's a good book, but I'm getting a bit sick of it though because we've been annalysing it so much.

beautiful&dying 09-06-2008 12:32 PM

Passing for normal: tourettes, OCD and growing up crazy.

It's actually ok so far, for some reason I thought it was going to be terrible but I've already learnt a lot and it's not self indulgent at all.

Reading rocks.

Are you enjoying it hun? I thought, by the end, that it was quite good. Not genius, like, but still enjoyable and at the same time utterly horrible!

I love American Psycho, there's so much going on all the time, and like Exquisite Corpse it's truly disgustingly horrible! hee hee!

The Life of Hunger by Amelie Northomb
It's about her eating disorder and more widely the philosophical question about hunger in us as humans, such as the hunger for knowledge and experience. It's ****ing incredible. I would LOVE to write something like this one day but she's just too good!

Very good so far, only been reading it for just over a week; less than 100 pages to go.

BlindSpot. 17-06-2008 03:06 PM

I've just finished The Kite Runner. Such an amazing book, made me cry a little in parts. I haven't seen the film yet but from what i've heard the book should be read first.

The Chocolate Lovers Club - ???

nowhereman 17-06-2008 05:05 PM

The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood.

beautiful&dying 20-06-2008 12:19 PM

It is pretty horrible I agree, although it's nothing compared to Easton Ellis's American Psycho. If PZB was too much, that would definitely be! Although I can't remember him actually eating them.... Thanks for sharing your thoughts :)

I just started Wild Boy (Jill Dawson), about a boy raised with wolves (true story) and brought up the whole nature/nurture debate again, which I am fascinated by. It's a novel but kind of researched and set in a real story. I'm loving it so far but I'm only 50 pages in. I think it has some stuff about autism in it further on and I'm looking forward to hearing her thoughts.

The Death and Life of Charlie St Cloud - Ben Sherwood

DevilzKisses 26-06-2008 12:43 PM

Currently reading...I can't remember.

Just finished reading a set of books by Karin Slaughter. They were good, I really enjoyed them. Wee bit gory, but I really really liked them.
Except thru the 6 books I got all attached to the characters and then one died. It made me sad. Up until that point tho they were really good, I can't wait till the next one.

Stardust - Neil Gaiman.
I absolutely loved it, the first couple of pages were dry but the story really picked up. Its a really good blend of different fantasy elements. He depicted a great world haha.

Im going to read Howls Moving Castle next.

hardly_evolved 27-06-2008 08:21 AM

All of my SIer friends have read this book, have you guys?

Wasted by Marya Hornbacher

It's excellent, really tragic, funny at times, and you know that it's all so true. It's about a woman who's been dealing with her ED since she was 9. It gives a lot of hope, I think, but in a realistic way.

xbeckyx 27-06-2008 09:00 AM
