Anyone used an Amazon locker?

During Christmas I discovered that there's an amazon locker in an local supermarket where I go once a fortnight. I was thinking of using it for stuff I can easily carry home instead of getting uber anxious and fed up of waiting for my stuff to be delivered to my flat.

How easy is it to get the stuff? Are they generally high up or low down? Due to back problems I cant reach low down. Or is it purely random? From my understanding Amazon email you a code which you tap in the screen of the locker and it unlocks a door which allows you to get stuff that you ordered. Is it a very long code? How long do you have to get the stuff?

Sorry for the many questions I get anxious about new things and I doubt that I can ask the store staff as it's owned by Amazon rather than the supermarket.

I have used one in the past and it wasn't too bad, although I do understand the anxiety around new things.

Pretty easy, you get given a code to enter that opens a 'door' and then you get your thing(s).
Are they generally high up or low down?
Sadly it's random, can be high up or low down to the floor.
Is it a very long code?
It's not that long from what I can remember but it'll be in an email that you could always print out/write down/have on your phone.
How long do you have to get the stuff?
You have 3 days to get your thing(s).

Thanks. I guess the only way is to do it!

Where I live by the university, there is a staffed "store"/locker location. So if you don't want to pick items up in the lockers, you can go to the desk and staff can get it for you and hand it to you. I don't know if there would be a location like that near you as an option, unsure how common they are. But I prefer doing that, as I can check in to get the package in the store, then just wait a couple of minutes for them to get it, show my id, and I get it. I *think* you can also get a barcode instead of a code to remember but again it might just be where I live that does that with the "store." Otherwise all of your other questions got answered.

I like it because it means I'm not waiting for someone to show up, and packages don't get let out in the rain. Plus I've had a lot of packages arrive damaged to my house and this way I have not had issues.

My experience is a lot like above, I used one a few times when I was having packages stolen and didn't expect to be home the day things were meant to be delivered. There wasn't much fuss and it was pretty simple.

Thanks everyone. I havent used an Amazon locker yet but I went to the supermarket where it's located today. I saw someone using it and it wasn't as scary as what I thought.

I also found an myhermes locker too in the same supermarket so I will be using that if I can.

Just an note to say that I have ordered something to arrive at the locker. I am going to the supermarket on Tuesday anyway so will pick it up then. I will update on how it goes :-)

Good luck, I hope it's not as bad as you thought!

I'd be interested to know how you get on, Dawn! It might be a useful service for me as once again I've just had an email saying my parcel has been delivered but there is no sign of it.

Sorry to hear that your parcel has gone missing. I have had that a few times. Usually it's been delivered to the wrong address.

I have had an email saying that it's been delivered to the locker. Amazon sent me an text with the code plus an email. It's a 6 digit code. The email also had an bar code but Idk how well it will scan from a phone. Will update tomorrow once I collect my parcel.

If you have a smartphone it should be able to scan it! What I sometimes do is take screenshots of the barcode then have it scan from that. That way all you have to do is pull up the image, and not try to find the email. (I do this all from an ipod and have it work, so any smartphone should be able to do similar)

Thanks Camden.

I did it earlier on today. I opted to use the code on which it was a simple touch screen. Then it opened the door which opened quite wide so it was obvious which one was yours. It was chest height as mine was a small package (would have fitted through a letterbox) I suspect had it been bigger it would have been higher or lower. I got it pretty quickly so dont know if there's an time limit on getting the parcel ie it shuts after 3 minutes.

Overall it was a quick and easy process so I will probably use it again if I know that I am going to the supermarket that week rather than make a special journey. I had more trouble with the self service checkouts in the supermarket than the Amazon locker lol.

Sounds like it was a very high tech system. Glad it worked well.
