Spice Addiction

I stopped drinking to help me lose weight. I stopped smoking pot because I'm working a job that drug tests. I turned to smoking something called k2 or spice. It's basically fake weed only it's legal (not in all states).

I've never had addiction problems with weed or booze. I stopped when I needed to and would start again then stop again at my convenience and never felt like either were controlling me. I was your classic work hard yet play hard type guy.

Spice is different though. I'm hooked. I admit it. It's not just a mental thing either. I feel quite the physical withdrawal from it. Has anyone else had a problem with this. I really wish I could just do it recreationally but I don't think that's possible. I'm practically broke so seeing a doctor is out of the question. The only thing a doctor will do is tell me how dangerous it is and that I need to stop doing it. Both of which I already know.

What I really is emotional support or at least to know that someone else out there has struggled with this. The problem is this drug is so rare and very little is known about it. Has anyone else had a problem with spice addiction? I could really use some support and advice right now

Hi there - I hadn't heard about this, but I see from a quick google that it's an issue in the States. I think any addiction is difficult to break without professional help. Are there any non-profits in your area that offer drug counselling? Often they will give free or reduced price treatment to people on low incomes.

Hi im from NZ and about a month ago our country banned all "Fake" weed products. I was on the stuff as it was easier to get than the real thing, anyway i went through a withdrawl like phase for about two weeks. I swear it only lasted two weeks where i felt anxious and depressed. Hang in there it gets better before you realise it. The thing with these fake weed products is they contain prescription meds(or at least our ones did).

It got me so down i was considering running away from my wife and kids so i could do it without hurting them. Then the government banned all products of its kind, which i guess helped me.

To sum it up I was forced to stop and to be honest it is the best thing you can do...how long have you been able to give up for?

CaptainB2 23-09-2011 07:08 PM

I've only been able to give it up for days at a time and a lot of that is due to the fact that I have to get it through the mail. There's nowhere around here I can buy it.

Codiene Junky 25-09-2011 03:07 AM

Try to be strong, and i hate to recomend it but maybe get the real stuff to help wean yourself off...hope i dont get in trouble for saying that...

CaptainB2 25-09-2011 04:26 PM

Nah, I can't turn to the real stuff because of my current job. Otherwise I never would've switched in the first place.

Anyway, I'm working on a week without it now and it's gotten a little easier I think it's best if I just keep on trucking and getting clean. Fortunately, the stuff is not that easy to come by for me.

My cat used to smoke spice quite frequently. The chemicals used in it are extremely potent, at least 5x that of THC. It's dangerous and has terrible withdrawal symptoms. I would recommend getting yourself to a support group.

Hi there. I know exactly what you mean. I tried k2 and another brand called Kush when I was working at a palce that sold them...I admit that I, as well, got hooked. It's not like regular weed at all (I think it's stronger). I am now convinced it creates dependency...especially if you have an addictive personality or are already addicted to something else. I was already doing other drugs when I tried it but after trying it it became a regular drug for me, mainly because of it's availability and how cheap it is compared to other things...I wish I could tell you how to deal with it but I don't know myself...all I know is that you should try to stop. I think I'm already having health issues because of my abuse of this. I've gotten in the habit of doing coke and smoking spice literally every day and when you smoke it daily it kind of messes with your lungs (and I already have lung/breathing problems but I think it's making them worse) and your mental state too...and it is hard to quit, I can tell.

I mean, I'm hypocritically telling you to stop it but it's because I know from experience how addictive it is. I have many friends who are also hooked on it and I know it's become an issue and they want to make it illegal...but where I live it's still available almost everywhere.
Anyway, you and me both...should stop using it. It's not even safe. The fact that they label them 'Not for human consumption' should have put us off...

Hey the best thing to do is to wean yourself off slowly. I've been addicted to MANY different drugs, weaning is the best way to go, or you can call detox.. If you want to quit cold turkey drink alot of water and eat alot of greens, fiber, fruit, and vitamines. Good luck.

Need help.

Someone I know, had a big problem with drinking and weed. They lost their job from it, but didn't get clean. Instead, they moved on to "safe" spice when friend told him he looked into it and said it was fine, he's mistaken in a big way. Now they are heavily spice addicted from a year of 5-10g daily from trying to find a cheaper "legal" high, and to come up clean on job drug tests. Well they started to run out of money and started stealing to get spice he needed it so bad. He's one day into getting sober and wants to work a program. But he's an atheist and the 12 step program seems like he would just catch a lot of flack for not being able to accept that idea. I'm not trying to make waves, but how does someone who can't accept a a supernatural force supposed to do the 12 step program?

Also people aren't kidding about it being worse than weed by far. He think he has asthma now 3-4 coughing fits a day, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, he feels stupid and out of all the time, not in a good way. He wants to get his life together and get clean, but he doesn't want people to lay into him about his views. Not only does he not think he's even close to important in the universe, he hates himself, but people tell him he can't accept the idea of a higher power because he thinks he's too important. He an atheist now because he was raised religious it's not as if he hasn't heard the message. He just wants to get clean, he can accept that people who do this for a living know better than he does, and he can take direction. But that higher power thing having to be a supernatural being, can't do it. Nor can he accept really any metaphysical system, but he wants help and he wants to try a support group.

Edit: No insurance, no way to get any as a single person in AZ without kids, broke, jobless.

I'm probably not going to sound to nice but spice?? Really?? Spice is like fake weed. Or was. People complaned they failed piss tests cause there used to be thc in spice now they just straight up took it out, now its just simply ****ing k2. Horrid. Its stupid, a 30 min high that can cause you to seize and ****. Just buy the ****ing chemical on the internet mow your yard put the chemical in your grass clipings and smoke that. **** paying 15 20 dollars for 5-10 grams where you are out of it anyway quicker than weed. Spice makes you feel dumb cause that's what it does to you. You can pick someone who has smoked spice for a year out of a crowd. Same with someone who has done xtc or meth way too much.

12 step program doesn't work for everyone , but that's where you put your shoes on and try it. Find out what works for you, there is not instruction guide on sobriety or life, even tho people think there might be, there's not.

There's a really simple bottle of pills you can get for like a dollar. You will trip your ****ing ass off if you manage to even be able to keep breathing through the whole thing.

Spice is awful. I had a roomate who would do anything for a hit of it. Its not even worth anything. Just the simple fact that it doesn't really do anything after the first time is in my book enough reason t not want to do it.

Quit being difficult if you really want help & just try. Yu will notice you're probably harder on yourself than other will be.

Sorry for being a dick at all, but ****, spice is garbage.

CaptainB2 01-11-2012 03:21 AM

I just went back to this thread to re-read it and found a lot of comments that I had not seen previously. Did some of you not realize this thread was over a year old? Seriously, do you honestly think I'm still hooked on that crap? I suppose I Should've kep this up to date. Anyway, as of tomorrow I've been spice free for 10 months. I suppose I should've said that but a lot of other stuff has gone wrong for me this year and I've been using this site for other purposes and forgot about this thread.

Anyway, thanks for the support everybody.

I hope you're going strong. My good friend, who serves in the military, also was addicted to spice like you. He struggled for like the first two weeks and he was fine after. He told me that he kept reading the quote below to help him stop. Hopefully it'll help you too. "Poison Control Centers report symptoms that include rapid heart rate, vomiting, agitation, confusion, and hallucinations. Spice can also raise blood pressure and cause reduced blood supply to the heart (myocardial ischemia), and in a few cases it has been associated with heart attacks."

Well done for coming off it.

DthCab4Cutie94 21-04-2015 05:11 AM

i was heavily addicted to spice for a long time. the withdraw can kill you please be careful. if you have any and all question PM me anytime.

dragon uk 21-04-2015 07:26 AM

hi, I haven't had a personal expreiance with the substance but work in a hostel where literally all of the clients are using this drug. some have even used it to help them get of things like heroin, so that shows how powerful it is.

around my area it is becoming that big of a problem that our substance use service actually has two practitioners specialising in it and other legal highs.
