The War Doctor 11-10-2012 11:11 PM

I've had ALL the time to read lately because of some long train journeys, so I recently finished Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and am now flying through Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. Both books have been on my personal reading list for years, and now college has finally given me a reason to read them.

To be honest, I didn't really enjoy Pride and Prejudice as much as I thought I would. Having discussed it in class and learned a lot about it, I suppose it's a pretty good book, and it had some great moments, but on the whole I just struggled to get into it. I found it really hard to stay interested in the story and most of the characters.

On the other hand, Wuthering Heights is damn good so far, and I'm enjoying it a lot.

Conor absolutely agree. Jane Austen i find incredibly boring (pride and prejudice, Emma etc) but love love love the bronte sisters. Wuthering heights is great but if you haven't read Jane eyre yet read that too. One of my favourite books.

Just started rereading my favorite novel at the moment, Wonder Boys by Michael Chabon. Absolutely beautiful piece of work, and a great commentary on the inner workings of the depressed writers' mind.

Not necessarily a book for children :P. One of my absolute favorites though. You should try 'One pill makes you smaller'. It's a good updated twist.

I just finished Best friends forever by Jennifer Weiner. I love her as an author. Torn on what to read next . . . there's too much on my bookwall to choose from.

Have just started The Northern Clemency, by Philip Hensher. Well, I'm nearly up to page 100.
It attracted me partly because it's set in the '70s, which is when I grew up..
It's a mighty big book though - which is how I like them!

Scars by Cheryl Rainfield.

I love pony stories. I found some a while back at a jumble sale for 20p each and bought them. I've only just started reading them now, coz I collect books and have quite a few. So, now, I'm reading Ponies in Peril, and have almost finished it. The next one in the pile is called Save The Ponies.

nowhereman 17-10-2012 12:14 AM

Aww I grew up reading any and every pony story I could get. My favourite were the Jinny series by Patricia Leitch. I need to get my hands on those again, I kept them until recently I gave them on loan tout never got them back :(

Anyway, right now I am reading Unloveable by Choice Jane Doe.
