Finally finished Shadow of the Wind, which was absolutely excellent! Really enjoyed it, especially knowing that it was originally written in Spanish and still translates so well. Now reading Cloud Atlas, which I'm pretty excited about!

Reading journals of Sylvia Plath, such a fantastically emotive writer!

I'm reading Wuthering Heights, I like it so far but its written in way that you have to completely concentrate on reading it, no skimming or distractions. If you try to skim over a few boring sentances you find yourself to be totally lost because something in those few sentances was apparently important to the story...other wise I quite like it.

Onto Chuck Klosterman's IV now :)

I've just finished Pieces Of My Heart by Sinead Moriarty. It's about a mother who has an anorexic daughter but theres other storylines too. It's a good read, quite funny in places too and realistic when it comes to the mothers feelings and how shes coping with her daughters anorexia. I did lose it a bit as some of the storylines dragged slightly.

Just finished 'Room'. I really resonated with it.

Now reading 'Waiting for Columbus'. In some respects it confuses me, but it's starting to come together about half way through.

I've just started Dracula again and I'm happy because I'd forgotten how much I adore this book!

I'm taking a break from highbrow stuff to indulge in Warhammer 40,000 fiction, so right now I'm reading The Guns of Tanith by Dan Abnett (the best 40k writer of all time). It's not bad, but not as good as Necropolis or Honour Guard.

Serenade 20-02-2011 01:43 AM

Dracula is ridiculously good, the damned atmosphere of that first third is incredibly tense. Someone mentioned Shadow of the Wind up there, I am looking forward to trying that one day!

Atm I am reading various, various things as per usual. Some off the top of my head include; At the Mountains of Madness by Lovecraft, American Gods by Neil Gaiman, some non fic. on some castles and ruins and revisiting Angels and Demons by Dan Brown :-)

I'm re-reading 'The Testament of Gideon Mack' by James Robertson. It is, quite possibly, my favourite book EVER.

Angelas Ashes. Its really sad, but easy to read and I'm enjoying it.

Just finished reading I Am Number Four a week or so ago, which was a ton better than the cheesy movie.

Reading Straight Silver by Dan Abnett, the sixth book in the Gaunt's Ghosts series. I... I dunno what happened. Granted, I'm only about 50 pages in, but so far it's awfully written compared to the previous books. Abnett is generally a damn good sci-fi/war writer, definitely one of the best out there, but this reads like it was written by a sixteen-year-old.

I've heard people say that Straight Silver is by far the worst in the series, but I didn't think it would be this juvenile.
