In the past we have asked for research requests to be approved by the moderators. We are now going to try this forum out with the aim of making it easier for people to post research requests on RYL. If you are thinking about taking part in any of the research requests please see here.
The most important thing to say is that the rules of RYL apply in this forum so if you are a new member please familiarise yourself with them. If you aren't certain about something please pm a forum moderator prior to posting.
For research that is being conducted the following additional rules apply.
As this is the internet we can't guarantee that participants under the age of 18 will get parental permission so posts here can only be aimed at participants who are aged 18 or over.
All research posted must have ethical approval and a link about this must be included in the initial post.
To ensure that this research has been verified researchers must include an official way of being contacted eg your full name and university email.
Contact details of your supervisor must also be included
We are aware that some of our younger members want to ask questions of members but will be unable to meet the above criteria.
We have thus made the following exemption for established members of RYL who are under the age of 18. Whereby aforementioned members are able to ask members some questions these should be posted in the post as opposed to on a survey site. The aims of the homework should also be outlined so members are aware of what they are participating in.
If the school research is more formal eg as part of A level coursework than the rules for research should be followed.
Ryl has had a difficult relationship with media companies in the past and we haven't allowed these to be posted. We are relaxing these but will be keeping a very close eye on these and should members report any distress caused by the process the posting will be deleted and a formal complaint will be made. Again participants can only be aged 18 and over.
The initial post needs to contain the following:-
Extensive details about the production including what format the production will take. What is the aim of the production. Who the target audience will be including if it will be shown on television. What will the process be for potential participants including time demands both prior, during and post production. How will the production be financed and lastly where else will you be recruiting for participants.
