It's good that they finally acknowledged how severe her bulimia is & that they are now on their side.
The funders are more likely to listen to the staff & let's just hope they impress upon them how vitally important it is that Helen gets some more funding.

She is trying to cut back. She's talking to the nurses and telling them when she has purged. 4 weeks is simply not enough time for somebody like Helen. She's been eating disordered a majority of her life, and that is not going to change in two or three weeks. She needs longer treatment. She is making the effort to stop, if she wasn't, she wouldn't be openly communicating with the staff at Cotswold. Purging, as with any other eating disorder behavior is a very difficult thing to stop, especially when the problem is so deep-rooted, as it is with Helen. But you are right on one thing, the staff does need to be doing more to help Helen's purging. And by applying for more funding, they'll be able to help her more, obviously. I don't think Helen is wasting anybody's time being there, she is trying her best.

Erm, she has cut back on how much she is purging. She is only purging occasionally now. Comparing that to what she was like before she was admitted, I'd say she's cut back more than what can be expected of her. She's been doing amazingly well & I think this is not a waste of money or time. She is learning a lot of new things, she is taking better care of herself, she is interacting with the staff and the patients, and she is engaging in recovery based goals for herself.

I just spoke to Hel & she is speaking to her primary nurse tonight.
I actually called her whilst she was making a list of distractions for herself =D
She's gonna try to get on here this evening, so I suspect she'll be replying here or in her R&V :)
She's doing alright, but she's struggling a lot, as to be expected, however, I do think she is sounding better than before, which is really good, I'm really proud of her, and we all are too.

dont have many words but im glad shes doing better even if she is struggling.
and there is no way that helen can be expected to be recovered or even close to recovered after this time, it may be more than a few days but its going to take more time for her. that sounded bad somehow sorry.

Tbh she needs to make up her mind whether she actually wants this and stops purging or at least TRY and cut it back. It just seems theres no point to further funding if shes just carrying on like shes doing now in the unit.

Just to add that I agree with everyone supporting Helen getting more funding.
The habits she is breaking probably extend way beyond purging. Over a few weeks she has been deprived of bingeing, alcohol and drugs. That's a HUGE amount to cope with and she's learning to do that.
I wish funding was endless, as it is I just hope they realise how important it is that she gets some more.

There is some hope of her stay being extended, Hel finds out next week on Wednesday if they will give her more funding.

I've got everything crossed that Hel gets some more funding!
It sounds like she's trying so hard and doing really well and I think we need to acknowledge that above anything else because I think few of us can imagine how difficult it must be to break the habits that have been the only way of coping for so long. There must be so much to learn and so many emotions to deal with. It will surely be a long and hard process, but Helen has made loads of progress and I hope I speak for lots of people when I say how proud I am of her.

Yeah a long term plan would be good, but I don't think they've done that yet, I've told Hel she needs to tell them she needs something in place for when she comes out, whether that be on the 10th or in a few weeks time assuming she gets more funding.
